Katy Marcella is a musical theatre performer, dancer, and choreographer based in Los Angeles, CA.
Raised in Minnesota, Katy's love affair with the stage began at the age of six when she was cast in THE KING AND I, specifically as the curious daughter who peaked under Mrs. Anna's skirt. However, it was seeing FOSSE on Broadway for her 10th birthday that insured Katy's lifelong passion for storytelling through movement.
Soon she immersed herself in the dance world, and traveled across the country to train with the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet school. At age 15, Katy began choreographing for local community theatre productions, and was the first recipient of Mayo High School's Jerry Smith Outstanding Performance scholarship for her choreographic work on Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, as well as the Southtown Singers show choir.
Katy received a BFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Musical Theatre & Dance from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2013. She competed in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival’s Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship competition during her junior year, and also performed in the world premiere of composers' Kerrigan & Lowdermilk’s TALES FROM THE BAD YEARS, the first fully-staged production of their song cycle by the same name.
